Here’s part 2 of my vacation book haul! On our way out of Asheville we stopped at Mr. K’s and grabbed a few more things. ⠀⠀ I’ve had a hard time finding used copies of Schwab or Jemisin, so I consider this a success, even though I’m still missing parts of series. ⠀⠀ I haven’t read Skyward yet, so I thought this would be a good opportunity to snatch up the hardback and prepare myself for the release of Starsight. ⠀⠀ It looks like this might be our last day of “fall” weather here for a while, so I’m going to try to make the best of it. My partner and I are on vacation this weekend, and of course we stopped at a couple bookstores on the way to our destination. ⠀⠀ I picked up Scythe and A Constellation of Half Lives from @firestormcoop, and volume 1 of Lady Killer from @morganscomicssanctuary, both stores in West Asheville. I try to take every opportunity to support local and indie booksellers, and I’m really glad I got to explore these shops. ⠀⠀ Yes, I’m hopping on the Arc of a Scythe series train now that the third book in the trilogy is out. I don’t like having to wait to finish a series, because I will lose interest (looking at you Martin). I’ve also been trying to get back into poetry and expand my graphic novel collection. ⠀⠀ Obviously I brought books with me to read as well, so I probably won’t actually get to these this weekend. If you know anything about me and my reading habits, you’ll know that my tbr changes on a whim. Rather than choosing a selection of books to read for the upcoming month (I tried it and it doesn’t work for me), I’m going to highlight some books I’m excited to read soon. ⠀⠀ First of all, I’m working my way through the Mistborn trilogy by Brandon Sanderson, and I’m absolutely loving it. From what I’ve heard, I’m probably going to want to dive into the third book right after finishing the second one. ⠀⠀ I just bought Ninth House this past weekend, and I really hope it lives up to the hype. I’m going to try to read this sooner rather than later, partly because I want to be part of the conversation and partly because I don’t want it to end up on my tbr shelf. ⠀⠀ Lastly, I would love to get through the His Dark Materials series this month. I didn’t read it as a kid, so I’m interested to see how I like it as an adult. The new HBO adaptation premiers soon (today, possibly?), which is extra motivation. ⠀⠀ What is everyone else excited to read this month? This past weekend I rearranged some bookshelves and unhauled a few things to make space for some new books. Of course I used the trade credit to buy more books.
